Shockwave Therapy at Everwell Health and Recovery
01

Individualized care. Clear next steps.

When an injury stops progressing, a different stimulus may help.

Targeted Recovery Support

When an injury stops progressing, a different stimulus may help.

Some tendon, fascia, and soft-tissue concerns remain painful long after the original strain. Rest may not have resolved the problem, and returning to activity may repeatedly aggravate the same sensitive area.

Shockwave therapy uses a handheld device to deliver controlled acoustic pulses into a targeted region. This mechanical stimulation is intended to influence the local tissue environment and may support circulation, pain modulation, and the body’s natural repair response.

At Everwell, shockwave therapy is recommended only after evaluating the source of your symptoms. When appropriate, it may be combined with mobility work, progressive strengthening, chiropractic care, or physical therapy to support a more complete recovery plan.

Shockwave therapy provides a focused stimulus—but lasting progress also depends on restoring the movement and strength the area needs.

How Care May Help

Focused support for persistent concerns.

Every care plan begins with understanding what you are experiencing, what matters to you, and what your evaluation shows.

Shockwave Therapy care at Everwell
01

Target the Sensitive Area

Treatment can be directed toward a specific tendon, fascia, or soft-tissue region identified during your evaluation.

02

Support a Tissue Response

Acoustic pulses create controlled mechanical stimulation intended to support the body’s natural response within the treated area.

03

Improve Activity Tolerance

As sensitivity improves, shockwave therapy may help you participate more comfortably in movement and rehabilitation.

04

Avoid More Invasive Options

Shockwave therapy is performed through the skin without surgery, injections, or an incision.

Not Sure What You Need?

You do not have to choose a treatment before your first visit.

Start by telling us what has been getting in the way. We’ll listen, evaluate, and help make the next step clearer.

Your Shockwave Experience

Precise treatment with a clear purpose.

Your provider will first determine whether shockwave therapy is appropriate and identify the tissue or region most closely connected to your symptoms.

01

Evaluate and Locate

We discuss your symptoms, health history, daily activities, and goals before examining the area and locating the tissue to be treated.

02

Apply the Treatment

A small amount of gel is placed on your skin to help transfer the acoustic waves. Your provider then moves the handheld applicator over the targeted area while delivering a selected number of pulses.

03

Restore and Progress

We monitor your response and coordinate treatment with mobility, strengthening, activity changes, or other care when appropriate.

What to expect from Shockwave Therapy at Everwell

When It May Be Considered

Shockwave therapy is designed for specific concerns—not every type of pain.

Your provider may consider shockwave therapy for certain persistent musculoskeletal concerns, including:

• Tennis elbow
• Achilles tendinopathy
• Rotator cuff tendinopathy
• Plantar fasciitis
• Patellar tendinopathy, sometimes called jumper’s knee
• Calcific tendinitis of the shoulder
• Certain peripheral nerve-related symptoms when clinically appropriate

These conditions can have different causes and may require different treatment strategies. An evaluation is necessary to determine whether shockwave therapy fits your symptoms, health history, and recovery goals.

Shockwave therapy is designed for specific concerns—not every type of pain.
Shockwave Therapy at Everwell Health and Recovery
Targeted treatment works best when it is connected to better movement, greater strength, and a thoughtful return to activity.
Treat the tissue—and change what keeps irritating it.

Whole-Person Recovery

Treat the tissue—and change what keeps irritating it.

A painful tendon or soft-tissue area does not function in isolation. Joint mobility, muscle strength, movement mechanics, training volume, footwear, work demands, and recovery habits can all influence how much stress the area receives.

Shockwave therapy may provide a useful local stimulus, but it is often most meaningful when paired with a plan that addresses these broader factors.

Depending on your evaluation, Everwell may coordinate shockwave therapy with physical therapy, chiropractic care, mobility exercises, progressive strengthening, or changes to the activities that continue aggravating the area.

Highly Recommend – Life-Changing Care & True Family Atmosphere at Chiropractic House in Overland Park! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My fiancé, Anna, has been going to Chiropractic House for a little over a month now, and the transformation has been significant! Not only has she gained so much more energy (which has directly improved our relationship and her time with the kids), but she’s also learned an incredible amount about holistic health.
Dr. Garrett Wilder, Dr. Taylor Jacobs, and the wonderful team (especially Dani and Emily at the front desk) are all so knowledgeable and passionate. Every visit, Anna leaves with new insights and practical tips she can’t wait to share with me. It truly feels like we’ve found friends who happen to be experts in chiropractic care — not at all like a typical doctor’s office.
It’s very much a family atmosphere here. Our shy little 1-year-old is always running around charming all the other clients (and the team!), and everyone welcomes it with big smiles. They’re incredibly flexible with scheduling, warm, friendly, and genuinely invested in their patients’ well-being. We look forward to every single appointment!
Anna isn’t just feeling better physically—her overall health and vitality are on a steady, amazing upward climb. If you’re looking for real results in a supportive, educational, and family-friendly environment, Chiropractic House is the place. Highly, highly recommend!

Dr. Taylor has helped me with my alignment and pain relief (the popular spot behind the scapula) by using dry needling.
Liz gave me a lot of information and guidance from my HTMA (hair tissue mineral analysis). There has been a huge difference from adding the right supplements to my diet instead of doing a generic multivitamin. I'm now able to strategically target what my body needs.
Thank you, to the team!

Dr. Taylor and her team are fantastic! They not only have helped with getting my body aligned, but they have also recommended various supplements, books, etc. to improve my overall health and wellness.
My husband was suffering intense headaches, ocular migraines, black spots in vision, consistent dizziness with vomiting, stiff neck, and just all over injury. We traveled to the ER, urgent care, saw an ENT, and our primary care office all without relief of my husband’s symptoms. We went to Dr. Garrett when we had nowhere else to turn and my husband and I both wish it was our first stop. Dr. Garrett truly listened to our concerns and my husband left with immediate relief and permanent relief after a few visits!

As for myself, I have struggled with my health for years. Bouncing in and out of Dr’s offices that made me feel crazy for communicating how my body was feeling. Dr. Taylor was the first to truly listen to me and have a conversation regarding my symptoms. While she was reviewing my test results, she asked if I experienced certain symptoms that could correlate with what my results were showing. MANY symptoms she asked about, I didn’t mention beforehand because previous Dr’s explained them as “normal” or “anxiety”. I felt so seen and validated I almost cried! Since working with Dr. Taylor I have truly felt such a change in my everyday health. Outside of just feeling better, I’ve had others notice a change since I’ve began care here! I truly feel HUMAN again!!!

My husband and I couldn’t recommend this office enough!! The entire staff is kind, incredibly knowledgeable, truly values each patient individually, and celebrates everybody who walks through their doors.

I first walked into Chiropractic House a few years ago for persistent hip/back pain 3 years out from having my last child along with goals to address functional medicine and overall health balance. I was very anxious about seeing a chiropractor and being adjusted. She was so patient and went at my pace and comfort level, I GREATLY appreciated this and quickly grew to trust her and was able to step out of my comfort zone if adjustments to truly help my overall wellness. I can say I trusted the process and now wake up every morning with no hip pain and was able to get back to my love for running and lifting. I also have taken my children here. This is a family atmosphere, that I cannot rave about enough. Both Taylor and Garrett are invested in their patients and their overall health/wellness which is shown with regular education events you can attend in addition to your scheduled visits. They want you to understand the root cause of the issues you are battling therefore you are better informed to tackle a healthy lifestyle. I have recommended them to friends and family!

I’ve been going to Chiropractic House for over 18 months. I completed my treatment plan and have been on regular maintenance ever since. Their no pressure no BS approach to holistic living keeps me going back. The staff are great and they have plans that will work for everyone. Shout out to Dr. Garrett for always keeping me in tip top shape!
Chiropractic house feels like family! They are understanding of your needs, educate you, and have the best customer service. I first started attending for prenatal visits and felt so safe because they are Webster certified for pregnancy adjustments. Postpartum I continue getting adjusted as well as my baby boy. My son had a neck tilt due to the way he was in the womb and I saw improvements almost immediately. They love me well and my son. Every time we walk in I get a smile and a warm welcome from Dani and Emily.
They offer more than just adjustments, so be sure to check out all their services via the website. And also have a play area for kids in the waiting area. I love that they care about children in this place. Both Dr Taylor and Dr Garret continue professional development to be the best for their practice and patients. Their pricing is also very reasonable! I recommend Chiropractic House to all my friends and family!

Common Questions

Before your first visit.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. These answers can help you know what to expect.

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers controlled acoustic pulses through a handheld applicator. These pulses create mechanical stimulation within a targeted tissue area and may support pain modulation and the body’s natural recovery response.

Does shockwave therapy hurt?

You may feel tapping, pressure, or brief sensitivity as the applicator moves over the treatment area. The intensity can usually be adjusted according to your comfort and the tissue being treated. Tell your provider what you feel throughout the session.

How is shockwave therapy performed?

Your provider locates the treatment area and applies gel to the skin. A handheld applicator then delivers a prescribed series of acoustic pulses while being positioned or moved across the targeted region. Treatment time and settings depend on the condition and your response.

How many shockwave sessions will I need?

The number and frequency of sessions depend on the condition, how long it has been present, your evaluation findings, and how you respond. Your provider will explain the initial recommendation and reassess your progress throughout care.

Is shockwave therapy safe for everyone?

No treatment is appropriate for everyone. Certain medical conditions, medications, recent injuries, treatment locations, or other clinical factors may make shockwave therapy unsuitable. Your provider will review your history and examine the area before recommending treatment.
