Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain + Arm Symptoms
Is the pain coming from your neck or your shoulder?
Neck and shoulder symptoms often overlap. A neck joint, disc, nerve, muscle, rotator cuff tendon, or the shoulder joint itself can cause pain around the neck, shoulder blade, upper arm, or hand.
We assess both areas when the symptoms call for it. Your pain location, movement, strength, reflexes, and daily demands help us determine which area needs attention and whether further testing is appropriate.
How neck and shoulder symptoms can overlap.
Neck Stiffness
Pain or limited motion when turning your head, looking up, driving, or working at a screen.
Pain With Reaching
Shoulder pain when lifting, reaching overhead, dressing, exercising, or sleeping on one side.
Arm + Hand Symptoms
Pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness that travels into the arm or hand.
Headache + Shoulder-Blade Pain
Tension or aching that begins near the neck and spreads toward the head or shoulder blade.
Common Neck + Shoulder Pain Patterns
Your symptoms may start in the neck, shoulder, or both.
These are some of the patterns we may consider during your evaluation. They are not diagnoses, and more than one may be contributing.
Neck Joint + Muscle Pain
Stiffness, aching, or muscle guarding may increase with turning, looking down, stress, or prolonged positions.
Cervical Disc + Nerve Symptoms
Neck pain with tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain into the shoulder, arm, or hand may involve a nerve.
Rotator Cuff Pain
Pain or weakness may appear when lifting the arm, reaching overhead, carrying, or lying on the shoulder.
Shoulder Impingement + Bursitis
The shoulder may feel painful through part of its range, especially during overhead or repeated activity.
Shoulder Instability or Injury
A fall, collision, sudden pull, or previous dislocation can leave the shoulder painful, weak, or unreliable.
Shoulder-Blade Strength + Control
The muscles around the shoulder blade help support reaching, lifting, posture, and overhead movement.
Work, Training + Repeated Load
Desk work, lifting, overhead jobs, sports, or repeated movements can keep sensitive areas irritated.
Non-Surgical Neck + Shoulder Care
Treat the area causing the symptoms, not only where it hurts.
Your plan may combine chiropractic care, physical rehabilitation, mobility and strength work, dry needling, spinal decompression, or shockwave therapy when appropriate. If imaging or a medical referral makes more sense, we will explain why.
Care begins with understanding the full picture.

Care that meets kids where they are.
Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Kids deserve care that feels calm, clear, and made for them.
Children are not simply smaller adults. They move, grow, play, and communicate differently—and their care should reflect that.
Some kids need a minute before they are ready. That is okay. We take time to listen to the parent, help the child feel at ease, and explain what we are doing before we do it.
- A visit that moves at their pace
- Clear answers for parents
- Gentle, age-appropriate care when appropriate
Answers Before You Book
Questions about Neck Pain and Shoulder Pain care.
These are common starting questions. Your recommendations will still depend on your evaluation, history, and goals.
Neck-related symptoms may change when you move your head and can travel toward the shoulder blade, arm, or hand. Tingling, numbness, or weakness can also suggest nerve involvement. A focused examination is the best way to separate overlapping symptoms.
Care may include activity changes, mobility work, progressive strengthening, physical rehabilitation, chiropractic treatment, dry needling, decompression, or another appropriate therapy. Your examination determines which options fit.
Cervical decompression may be considered for some disc- or nerve-related neck and arm symptoms. It is not appropriate for every condition, so we first review your history and complete a neurological and movement assessment.
Many neck and shoulder problems can be evaluated without immediate imaging. We may recommend an X-ray, MRI, or medical referral after a significant injury or when weakness, instability, neurological findings, or the examination suggests more information is needed.
Seek urgent medical care after a major injury, for sudden significant arm weakness, loss of coordination, chest pain, trouble breathing, or a visibly deformed shoulder. A severe headache with fever and marked neck stiffness also requires prompt medical evaluation.
